We are delighted to welcome award-winning flautist Hannah Foster to perform at Marchmont, accompanied on harpsichord by Marchmont’s Musical Director Simon Leach.
This concert is the third in our four-part Music at Marchmont 2025 series, led by Simon Leach.
The concert will take place in Sir Robert Lorimer’s majestic oak-panelled Music Room.
Doors will open at 6:30 pm for pre-concert drinks which are included in the ticket price. The concert will start at 7:00 pm and finish at 8:15 pm, without an interval.
Programme
The full programme is to be confirmed, but will include J S Bach’s Flute Sonata in E Major, and other popular Baroque pieces.
About Hannah Foster
Hannah Foster was born in Edinburgh and began learning the flute at the age of eight. During her time at St. Mary’s Music School, Hannah was taught by Matthew Stoddert-Kennedy, Lis Dooner and Emma Roche. In 2018, Hannah graduated with a First Class Honours degree from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. She studied flute with Katherine Bryan and piccolo with Janet Richardson. She made her concerto debut at sixteen, performing with the Neilson Flute Concerto. In 2014, Hannah won the British Flute Society School Performer Prize, the Abingdon Concerto Competition and was a woodwind category finalist in the BBC Young Musician of the Year. Since then, Hannah has won the Edinburgh Competition Festival Concerto Competition, the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland’s Classical Concerto Competition, and the John Macgregor Flute Prize from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. She enjoys chamber and solo music as well as her freelance orchestral playing on both flute and piccolo.
